EXPLORE

Michael Chikuzen Gould

The Shakuhachi is a traditional Japanese bamboo flute used in folk music and in religious practice by Zen monks in medieval Japan. Michael Chikuzen Gould is one of the few teachers and performers outside Japan to attain a Dai Shihan (Grand Master) certificate for the instrument. Michael also gives lectures and presentations for a wide variety of courses and subjects, including music performance and composition, ethnomusicology, culture and religion, and Japanese language courses of all levels.

We'd like to bring Michael Gould to Nebraska to give a series of lecture-presentations and performances in Lincoln and Omaha. We're currently reaching out to organizers and school faculty members to asses their levels of interest and ability to contribute and participate. Please let us know if you'd like to contribute!
